The new year has started with a bang for CCIS’s rising stars, who have been collecting medals and accolades across Asia. From the rich culture of Negeri Sembilan to frozen tatami mats of Kazakhstan and the fiery courts of the Philippines, our students are proving that rigour and dedication knows no off-season.
Shane-Le: A Multi-Talented Champion on the World Stage
Leading the charge is Shane-Le, a Concord Merit Award recipient. Demonstrating an incredible commitment to his sport, Shane-Le spent the Chinese New Year holidays training in Kazakhstan to prepare for a busy season ahead. He is currently gearing up for a series of major Judo tournaments, including the SUKMA qualifying rounds, the Nepal Open, and the Penang Open in April. This rigorous training comes hot on the heels of his Silver Medal win at the 2nd Navotas Invitational Judo Tournament 2026 in Manila last month and most recently over the weekend, he won 3rd place at the 2026 Hong Kong International Judo Tournament.
Beyond the dojo, Shane-Le also excels academically, having secured the Silver Award at the Economics Explorer Competition last year, placing him in the top 10% of 470 participants.
Daivik: Making Smashes in Pickleball
On the pickleball court, Daivik is a force to be reckoned with. After securing 4th place at the Putrajaya Junior Open U12 category in December, he quickly bounced back to claim a Silver Medal in the ISSAM Pickleball Competition U16 Doubles Category. His impressive performance has led to his selection by Playa PARC to represent their academy in upcoming tournaments, including at the APP Malaysia U15 Singles.
