Concord Malaysia is bursting with pride as we celebrate the inaugural and remarkable participation of our students in the Kancil Science Competition, one of Malaysia’s most prestigious and highly competitive science events.

This annual competition attracts over 30,000 young scientists from across the nation, making it a significant platform for students to test their knowledge and ingenuity. The 2025 competition was particularly challenging, with only 10% of all participants achieving the top award honours and another 40% receiving Honourable Mentions.

In our very first year of participation, a cohort of 29 brilliant Concordians, comprising 1 Primary Student and 28 Secondary Students, rose to the challenge and represented our institution with exceptional distinction.

We are thrilled to announce their outstanding achievements:

  • 3 Students received the prestigious Silver Award
  • 6 Students were honoured with the Bronze Award
  • 12 Students received Honourable Mentions, a category that includes our solo primary school participant
  • 8 Students were awarded the Certificate of Participation, a testament to their dedication and effort in this rigorous competition

This collective success is a powerful testament to the hard work of our students and the unwavering support of our dedicated educators in the Science Department and the leadership team. Each participant embraced the challenge, demonstrating their knowledge, skills and critical thinking as well as prove that rigour is now part of each Concordian.

Dr Tee Yee Bond, Head of the Science Department, Seconday School said that “we were looking at the students’ potential and capabilities in Concord Malaysia’s first year. We were confident that they could make a mark for themselves, and they made us all so proud.”

“What an incredible moment of pride for our primary school community! One of our students made history as the only primary aged participant in a challenging competition and achieved a remarkable finish. This achievement perfectly reflects our ethos of academic rigour. We strive for our students to dream big and work hard. We celebrate the journey, the progress, and the courage it takes to try. We are so proud of Ashton’s accomplishment,” said Mrs Rosanna Kirkbride, Founding Head of Primary.

While Dr Phil Outram, Executive Principal said that “at Concord Malaysia, we celebrate our students’ wonderful achievements in the Kancil Science Competition. Their curiosity, discipline, and commitment to learning reflect the strong culture of academic rigour that we cultivate in our school. Congratulations to all participants – you have made our Concord community truly proud! To the hardworking Science teachers: your dedication is an inspiration to us all.”
