The school was proudly represented by three talented Year 6 students – Emma (violin), Otoha (violin), and Yan Tong (cello). They were prepared and accompanied by the Head of Music, Mrs Krisztina Ujhazy.

The repertoire, which included orchestral arrangements of John Kanaka’s Australian traditional sea shanty and Bruno Mars’ Die with a Smile, had been sent to participating schools several months in advance. This allowed students time to learn their parts before coming together for intensive rehearsals at the festival. Although the rehearsal days were long and demanding, they were extremely rewarding. Students developed their musical skills, learned how to rehearse effectively in a large ensemble, and formed new friendships with fellow young musicians from other schools.

The festival concluded with a highly successful concert on Sunday afternoon, attended by around 150 parents, showcasing the impressive progress the orchestra made in just two days.

“We are so proud of our students and how they have grown over the last year. Their dedication and commitment were evident, and they represented the school with confidence and musical maturity,” said Mrs Rosanna Kirkbride, Head of Primary.
